100 Things to do in Ft Lauderdale before you die

“Island City Stage: “Island City Stage is always pushing the boundaries and showcasing works by local playwrights. It’s an LGBT theater, celebrating LGBT talent, history and humor — while many theaters may dabble in LGBT themes, this one is completely enveloped in it. A tip I share in the book is that parking is tight, so consider taking a ride share or park in a larger lot and take a stroll. It’s also in the heart of Wilton Manors, so it’s perfect for dinner and show. I went to see a show here with a friend and we both had such a great time. It was a fundraiser for a local nonprofit I volunteered for and all the actors came out on their own time and director Ronnie Larsen was there to greet the audience. The show was ‘Now & Then’ and it was such a moving mixture of comedy, drama and music, taking the audience along on a ride following two men on their journey together as partners. It was the epitome of local theater with the talent of major stages.”
